Portable Cell Analyzer
In today’s global health, the biggest problem is lack of resources available to test and treat the many diseases that inflict the sick and poor. Two key impediments to diagnosis and treatment remain to be resolved:
- In central labs and facilities: reducing costs while maintaining the same clinical standard; and
- In resource limited settings: mobile and distributed medical testing.
In many diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and cancer, there are currently very few diagnostic and monitoring tools available for delivering tests in a rapid, portable, and cost-effective manner.
ChipCare designs and produces handheld cell analyzer systems specifically for global health applications. ChipCare’s product can provide state-of-the-art blood analysis at a fraction of the cost of the equivalent test performed in a routine medical laboratory and is analogous to today’s glucose meters that are readily available on the market.
The goals of this project are to further enhance this technology by designing, developing, and testing a point of care system which can deliver lab quality blood tests using beadarray technology from a single finger stick sample of blood.
